In today's economic climate, all suppliers are hungry for business and take every effort to tilt the balance of information in their favour, and nothing is more emotive than the subject of reproductions of classic designs.

Here at Scott Howard, we strive to offer independent advice on the sourcing and quality of all the "original" and "reproduction" products available from around the world today.

On this web site and in our London showroom, customers can see examples of both "originals" and "reproductions" of many of the world's iconic products side by side, so we would like to take this opportunity to make our policy on reproductions clear to all.

Our stipulation is that to be termed "originals", the product must come from the original manufacturer who first designed and patented the product. To us, anything else is a copy.

Many of the iconic chairs that we supply are classics, which have been in manufacture for over 25 years and as a result, the legal protection for these designs has now expired in the UK.

A number of new suppliers are now producing high quality reproductions of many of these iconic designs and offering them onto the UK market at competitive prices.

We here at Scott Howard have visited many factories throughout the world to find high quality reproductions at affordable prices. We, for our part, are very happy to recommend high quality reproductions which are based on faithful adherence to the original designs.

On these pages of the Scott Howard web site, we are happy to recommend both originals and reproductions, where we feel these standards have been met.

Reproduction products from the Far East have suffered bad press in recent years. However our experience is that like many things, there is good and bad in everything.

We have looked closely at products from China and the surrounding area and yes, some of the products we saw were poor quality, but we also found many high quality products as well and it was from these top-end Chinese suppliers that we selected our top quality reproductions.

In fact, we are so impressed with the quality that we are happy to supply our reproductions under the same terms as our originals. This means that "All reproductions supplied by Scott Howard have a Lifetime Guarantee", covering free parts, service and repair.
